SHAPED BY TIME

2020 marked 20 years of Greenwich Millennium Village (GMV), a development described as one of the most exciting and innovative residential neighbourhoods in Europe.

The Problem

Countryside wanted to reaffirm GMV’s position as the primary development on the Greenwich peninsula, owning their history and developmental evolution. The team wanted to instil pride in the existing residents about their choice of home, encourage prospective buyers and also reinforce the Countryside brand positioning of “places people love”. A commemorative coffee-table book was commissioned – detailing the very origins of the project, right up to present day and exploring the exciting future that still lies ahead for this progressive development.

The Solution

We conducted extensive interviews with key team members; past and present, residents and architects to hear their tales of the village and their connection to this unique location – these stories then helped to shape the pagination of the 72pp book and its creative direction.

Inspiration for the creative came from a mix of traditional history books and modern coffee table designs. It was important to strike the right balance of recognising the history of the site whilst acknowledging the innovative thinking that has been present since its inception and continues to this day.

A commemorative logo was commissioned and implemented across all collateral, including a debossed foil treatment on the front of the hardback book.

The quality of production was critical and we worked closely with the printers to achieve a lay flat, fine linen bound book that could withstand being well-handled but also look impressive, as this permanent record of history will be around for many years to come.

What the client said

Reaching 20 years of GMV was a significant milestone for us and, by working closely with the Jacob Bailey team, we are delighted with the outcome of the commemorative book. It will serve as a lasting legacy to the development and we’re very proud to see it in print.
